If you were in the Pittsburgh area on Thursday, then you know that we were impacted by some intense weather. It’s one of those summer days rife with humidity and we had some thunderstorms earlier in the day. This round that came through at night was the one that left its mark on the communities that are part of the Pittsburgh market.
I sensed we were have some kind of weather event as I was leaving the gym that afternoon. Fortunately, I got home before the worst of it got here. Just after 6 is when it really started. Many warnings went up, many reports of wind and hail damage, and even a few confirmed tornadoes were reported. Lots of power outages occurred as a result of Thursday’s severe weather event.
At home, we were very fortunate. No major storm damage at all. Only a few pool floats that blew away.
My coffee schedule won’t be impacted by the storms, even though I did have plans to meet Mr. Clougherty on Friday morning at Caleese. I just pushed my coffee date back to today and treated myself. We’re just going to stick to our dinner dates and so the next time we meet will be on September 25. Maybe our paths will cross sometime at Caleese, Cutie’s or White Rabbit.
I tried the Fall menu at Caleese and ordered the Maple Bun Latte. It was pretty steady at 3pm, though the grand opening of the Caleese Collective might have had something to do with that. The grand opening was pushed back a day since power was out yesterday, thus postponing my coffee date with Kevin. The shop had some nice merch that I browsed as I was in line and their coffee flight looked tempting.
Cutie’s has the Gilmore Girls flight (third year in a row!) and Caleese has the Sweater Weather flight. Abigail’s has a Gilmore Girls theme going on this Fall. Appropriate as Ligonier is the Little Stars Hollow to most people.

It has been a year since I started using my present journal to write my content, before I post it on the computer. With the publishing of my 1,000th blog sometime later this month, I will be retiring this journal. It’ll be out of pages by then anyways (or close to it!). I’m proud that I have come this far with my writing. It’s a passion project and I enjoy writing about my life (and sometimes my sense of style). I would like to continue doing this past a thousand, and shoot for some higher goals (1100, 1500, and even 2000!). It’s a reach but I’d like to hit one of the latter milestones by the time I turn 50 in 2031.
My schedule hasn’t changed when it comes to going out for coffee. Cutie’s on Thursday and, weather permitting, on Bible Study nights. Just after the first day of Fall is when I’ll order my Pumpkin Spice Latte. Finally, I’ll take a trip to Ligonier to try one of the Gilmore Girls-themed drinks.
