2023 is only a week old, and already I’m feeling a lot better than I did at this time last year. I want to go out more (when I’m not working or busy doing other things), I’m more social now than I was a year ago and, I’ve rekindled one of my old passions. No, I’m not talking about the weather, but nice try.
The laptop I got from my cousin as a gift at our Gaffron New Year’s Eve party has been a godsend. For those of you who follow my blog, I didn’t put out much content last year. I wasn’t up to it, I was questioning some of my life choices, and I had very limited resources on hand to help me come out with decent content. But a week into 2023, it feels like I left off where I was going into 2022. Maybe one step forward, three steps back was a good thing.
As soon as I got home from the party and was counting down the hours to the new year, I got my computer set up and had a blog posted just before Midnight on January 1. For those of you keeping score, this is my sixth post of the year so far. Now 2023 isn’t even a month old and anything can happen, but I’ve felt a renewed sense of confidence in myself regardless.
I was always into photography even back in my college years. That passion and drive for taking pictures lasted well after I graduated. I’ve been through many cameras and have always loved photography. However, not having a working laptop and not going out much due to COVID, adjusting to a new job, and not being confident enough to show myself meant that my interests had waned. But last night, I pulled out my memory card and my laptop read it. I came across some pictures I took in 2018 and 2019 including Hersheypark, as well as downtown Greensburg and from a family picnic in the summer of 2018.
I’d like to share some of my old work with all of you (thanks to the magic of Facebook) so I can show how much I loved taking pictures. These are from my early post academia years as I was really trying to find myself.

With my love of photography officially reborn, Iβm excited to see what I can do after being away from it for so long. Iβll post the pics from my cameraβs memory card at a later date.
Look for restaurant reviews which will be coming soon. I already have Guy Fieriβs Restaurant and Bar in mind for a review (donβt know when that will be but Iβm looking at sometime in the Spring months). Iβm also interested in eating at French Express in Latrobe sometime this winter and trying their menu (I could go for some crepes). Also looking forward to some coffee dates this week.
Iβll be shopping this week for some winter outfits at Old Navy as well as some bath accessories. Target run here I come! Iβll be posting pics to the blog and social media. James the Outfit Slayer is on it in 2023.
Hi James, I am glad that your new computer is working out for you. We were happy to be able to gift it to you! I love that 2023 is going better for you!
I love your content but I would care about you even if you didn’t write too.
