As I Turn 40

The TLI blog will be released after the event has ended, but until then let’s look back at some other milestone birthdays and preview next week. It’s not just any birthday 🥳, it’s my 40th. Wait until you see the one that’s coming in ten years.

I’ve been making kind of a big deal about the event more than I should. As I turn 40, I’ve come to realize that I’m at a good place in life.

I have my blog which is growing. I have my love of fashion and style that’s just getting better with every passing day. I’m looking forward to TLI on Saturday and this new Toastmaster year coming up on July 1. I belong to a wonderful church home.

Back when I was 25, I worshipped higher education. I’d do anything to go back to school even if it was for a useless post baccalaureate degree. In 2006, I was sitting at home unemployed and taking care of my sick grandmother. I was a dumpster fire and it would be a while before that flame would be extinguished.

These days I think college is overpriced and overrated. I have Toastmasters and my blog. I have my love of fashion, and I have my friends and I enjoy following their Instagram pages and learning about their businesses.

As I turned 30, I was a few years into posting the weather on Facebook. I was crazy about politics but eventually it chewed me up and spit me out. I joined Toastmasters and was still longing to go for a postbac degree. I quit the politics and chasing that higher education and accepted my time in college after years of doubting that it was the right choice. I was getting better but still had a long way to go.

When I turned 35, I thought about getting back into my field of study. However, being away from it for so long hindered my performance and I couldn’t stick with it. I eventually retired my longtime tradition of attending homecoming at my Alma mater. By 2018, it had become really stale and I regretted missing the first Fall Symposium that my Toastmasters District held.

Which brings us to the present day. I have my blog which is doing well. Long gone are the times when I would live for the good old days. I’m looking forward to being Greensburg’s Vice President Education in July. I wow my friends and family with my fashion and stories on social media. I learned to support my local everything when the world shut down last year.

I’m looking forward to a great long birthday weekend. My aunt and cousins have turned me on to the idea of exploring the shops in Bedford and then having dinner at the Jean Bonnet Tavern. I think this may just eclipse last year’s Ligonier Tavern dinner with Rob and Sara. It’s just the start of what will be a great time.

In just a week I’m going to be fierce, fabulous, and 40.

Bye everyone. ❤️ you.
