Itโ€™s Summer, But Fall Coffee is coming!

This weekโ€™s weather will start out hot and humid, as we add to our 90 degree days for the Summer. Late in the week, we get a break from the heat as we usher in August. While we try to stay cool this week, letโ€™s look forward to Fall and some of the new FallContinue reading “Itโ€™s Summer, But Fall Coffee is coming!”

Maintaining my Magnificent Speaking Streak!

Over the last year, Iโ€™ve given at least one speech every month at my Toastmasters meetings. Sometimes, if the schedule allows I give two speeches a month. Iโ€™ve done it in consecutive weeks as well. The exception has been the month of January, but I still consider this run to be successful, having spoken 11Continue reading “Maintaining my Magnificent Speaking Streak!”

Everything is Falling into Place!

Wednesday night, our Laurel Highlands officers all got together for a meeting. We used Google Meet, which was a nice contrast to Zoom. Iโ€™ve been attending online meetings since 2020 (when the pandemic forced us to hold them virtually), and this meeting was good, even if we didnโ€™t cover everything in the allotted hour. WeContinue reading “Everything is Falling into Place!”

Together We Win at Laurel Highlands Toastmasters!

Tonight at our Laurel Highlands Toastmasters meeting: We had a second time guest in attendance. Will attended a previous meeting and it was nice to see him come back. Our VPE even volunteered him for the role of timer. We got feedback from him about the meeting and how much he liked it. Upon gettingContinue reading “Together We Win at Laurel Highlands Toastmasters!”

Looking Back at my Quarter-Life Crisis!

Iโ€™ve been โ€œA Promised Landโ€ for about a month and made it close to the halfway point. By now, itโ€™s 2009 and Obama has been president for a month and is trying to get the economy out of the Great Recession that started in the Fall of 2008. Iโ€™ve read up on the collapse ofContinue reading “Looking Back at my Quarter-Life Crisis!”

Who Moved My Cheese at Greensburg Toastmasters?!?

Wednesday night at our 100% virtual Greensburg Toastmasters meeting, we had two speakers (myself included). My speech was titled “Who Moved My Cheese?” as you can see from the image. Not only did I speak on the book and the experience of reading it for one of my classes at Slippery Rock, but I alsoContinue reading “Who Moved My Cheese at Greensburg Toastmasters?!?”

Prioritizing Faith at Cutieโ€™s Bible Study!

The forecast didnโ€™t favor an outdoor Bible study. It poured Monday morning and rain was forecast between 4 & 5 oโ€™clock. That didnโ€™t stop Cutieโ€™s from holding their outdoor event. For the first time in six weeks, people gathered in the parking lot for a long awaited study. The subject: Faith. Our speaker Monday nightContinue reading “Prioritizing Faith at Cutieโ€™s Bible Study!”

It’s Summer, but Back to School and Fall are Coming!

Last night at work, I began to notice signs of change. Itโ€™s still summer, but Iโ€™m seeing back-to-school displays up front. In the back of the store and going into the backroom, I discovered boxes Halloween candy and Fall treats. These will go in the seasonal aisle as summer progresses. I have yet to seeContinue reading “It’s Summer, but Back to School and Fall are Coming!”

Fourth of July at the Farm 2025!

Friday was the Fourth of July which it meant it was time for the annual picnic at the Gaffron farm in Guffey. The farm opened at 4 with the food being served at 5. We arrived a little bit after the doors opened with our cooler full of pop and beer and a cookie bar.Continue reading “Fourth of July at the Farm 2025!”

New Beginnings at Laurel Highlands Toastmasters!

Tonight marked a year of new beginnings at Laurel Highlands Toastmasters. We had a great program that was sure to please and, it was an important night as the club held officer inductions for its new officers. Some of us were in person for the meeting, while others were virtual. Those who were inducted atContinue reading “New Beginnings at Laurel Highlands Toastmasters!”
