On Tuesday, I blogged about some of the events that had the biggest impact on me in 2025. These ranged from Toastmasters events and clubs achieving success to work and my many visits to Cutie’s. But, one of the other things that made news was the anniversaries I’ve celebrated in my own personal life. 2025 marked 20 years since I graduated from Slippery Rock University. Also, this summer marked 25 years since I graduated high school. We would have had a reunion but unfortunately, due to other circumstances, that was cancelled. I had two nice weeks off from work this year, one during the summer and another in the middle of Fall. Also, for my aunt’s birthday we enjoyed a nice dinner at this restaurant in Jennerstown called The Fat Squirrel.
During my second vacation in October:
- I was able to attend the family reunion at Laurel Hill
- Attend a Toastmasters meeting in Johnstown
- Enjoy Homecoming at Slippery Rock University..Â
For these iconic TV shows, 2025 was a time to celebrate!
- The Office premiered 20 years ago on NBC
- Gilmore Girls debuted 25 years ago on the WB network. It changed networks in 2006.Â
- Golden Girls graced our television sets for the first time 40 years ago on NBC.Â
These shows have stood the test of time over the years. I’m quite surprised at how the younger generations have really enjoyed the Golden Girls.
Looking ahead to the New Year this Thursday, I plan on doing some serious downsizing. I will make this my winter project, but I don’t plan on dragging it out. On my reading journey, I’m going to continue reading “Matriarch” throughout the month of January.
2025 was Cutie’s heavy with many trips there. I’ll continue to support them, but I’m going to give the other shops my business as well. Like today, when I visited Caleese Coffee for the first time. I’ll be posting my review to social media. By the way, the new Valentine’s Day menu at Cutie’s drops on January 17. The first month of the year will see trips to Steep Mountain and White Rabbit, in addition to Cutie’s.
Cutie’s had their outside Bible Study which began last spring and went through the summer. Saturday night, I am going to start off 2026 on the right foot and get back to regular church attendance. I also plan to get back in the Word as well.. I haven’t really been involved in the church since 2021, just before I left WIS to work at Giant Eagle. I have some different churches in mind. If I have a free Sunday morning at some point down the road, I may check out 4theCity church in Southwest Greensburg.
As I just posted earlier, I will be reading Tina Knowles’ book “Matriarch” for the month of January. I read a little bit of the book this morning and when I went to Caleese this afternoon. “Meet Me at Luke’s”, I haven’t forgotten about you. I have a few chapters left in the book as well. The chapters are small and will take a day to read. I plan to finish the Gilmore Girls retrospective by the end of January.
Governor Josh Shapiro’s memoir, “Where We Keep The Light” is set to be released at the end of next month. I’m going to buy that sometime in February and it will be on my reading list by late Winter. Upon finishing “Matriarch”, I will start “On Air” which talks about NPR.. I’m looking at a February start on that book.
As for my plans for the blog, I still plan on writing. But, expect less content than the last few years. The purpose of this is so that I can focus on other hobbies, in addition to Toastmasters and my fitness journey as well. I also want to take time to do new things I’ve not done before. The coming year is going to be one of new beginnings.
How I’m ending this year is very fitting. I will have 888 blogs overall. I’m going to reach a milestone early in the year and a big one later in the year. Maybe for those milestones, it’s time to learn some web design skills to make stylishdtm.com stand out.
Happy 2026!
