It’s a Wrap on Christmas Shopping!

It’s time to sit back and count down to Christmas. I’ve officially wrapped up shopping for the holiday, finishing up yesterday afternoon. It wasn’t hard to wrap the last few presents this morning. All I needed was some gift bags and some tissue paper. Those bags from previous Christmases sure come in handy!

During the season, I’ve listened to plenty of holiday tunes. My playlist has been set to Christmas since November. This morning as I put the finishing touches on gift wrapping, I enjoyed some Pentatonix. But, the holidays can sometimes feel overwhelming. For me, I’m guilty of being influenced by the media and worried I’ll succumb to the FOMO. That stands for Fear Of Missing Out. This applies to Christmas music and movies as well. Nothing’s perfect and I’m going to miss out anyways. It’s OK to take a break and I did that yesterday morning.

I will be listening to a holiday podcast this weekend on being overwhelmed during the holidays. It’s hosted by a friend of mine in the Allegheny Mountains Toastmasters club.

A Cute Christmas Drink hits the spot on a mild December morning

Thursday morning I ventured out to the gym. Afterwards, I made a rare Thursday morning visit to Cutie’s. Usually I’m asleep at 10AM on a Thursday as I always work the night before. But I took advantage of the two days off to treat myself. After having a Peppermint Mocha Cold Brew, I followed up my visit on Tuesday with a Frosted Gingerbread Latte on Thursday. If this was my second time having this drink, a little encore never hurts. The sun and mild temperatures made the drive worth it.

I still have a few trips planned before Christmas Eve, It’s been fun ordering from the Cutie Christmas menu as well. I’ll end the 2025 holiday season the way I began 2024, with a Chestnut Praline Latte.

Down to the Final Week before Christmas

Monday night will be the finale for the Holiday Baking Championship. It’s down to the final five bakers. It’s been an interesting season, even though splitting the twelve contestants into teams is a bit much. This is my fifth year watching the show and it gives me something to look forward to every November. I’ll be watching to see who wins but I beg to ask the question:

Has this show jumped the shark if it’s official that Duff Goldman isn’t coming back as a judge?

Last night while Annabelle was at her choral concert, I enjoyed A Christmas Story. This morning, I watched the sequel. I enjoyed it for the memories of the classic film that preceded it, and because some of the original characters (the children) were in it. Also, at the end, I liked the arc for one of the characters from the 1983 movie. I even completed the Peter Billingsley trifecta, if you count his small part in Elf.

The snow falling outside left a mere dusting this morning, but it added a nice element as I was relaxing indoors.

Christmas preparation all done meant it was time to take it easy.
