Sunday was a great day for watching football ats it was too wet to do any outdoor activities. I was able to watch the Steelers-Commanders game and finally get some of my summer clothes put away. Pittsburgh played early while Philadelphia had a late start in Dallas. Both Keystone State teams were successful on Sunday as big games await them in the next week. The Eagles host those same Washington Commanders who lost to Pittsburgh on Sunday while the Steelers welcome their hated rivals, the Baltimore Ravens. Both games feature bitter rivalries and Thursday night and Sunday afternoon will be no different.
The Washington Commanders are finally a true contender after so many years. However, they were put in their place as Pittsburgh came from behind. Kenny Pickett to George Pickens is a thing of the past. Enter Russell Wilson to Mike Wiliams as the new quarterback-wideout duo in Pittsburgh. The Philadelphia Eagles were in the Super Bowl two years ago and are trying to get back to the big game this February. The Steelers and Eagles are both in first place and lead their respective rivals, the Ravens and Commanders, by a half game in the standings. Any Ravens vs. Steelers contest is usually a bloodbath regardless of the location or the record. Pittsburgh has had the upper hand in the series since 2017, winning 10 of 14. Since 2020, they’re 7-1 vs. Baltimore. Washington ended Philadelphia’s undefeated season in 2022 on Monday Night Football. In December, the Steelers will travel to Philadelphia for what should be a great matchup.
Sunday’s game of the day is between two bitter conference rivals as the Buffalo Bills play host to the three time world champion Kansas City Chiefs at Highmark Stadium. The Bills will look to do what no other team hasn’t been capable of doing yet and that’s knock off the Chiefs. This is third time the Chiefs have started 9-0, the other years being 2003 and 2013. Both times they lost in game 10 (2003 at Cincinnati, 2013 at Denver). Buffalo has had success against Kansas City in the regular season winning the last three games (all in KC). However, they can’t get it done when it matters. The Chiefs have won all three postseason games in the “Josh Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes” era. A loss for the Bills does help the Steelers in playoff positioning, provided Pittsburgh wins on Sunday. The game is going to be nationally televised and will likely be a preview of the AFC Championship game scheduled for January 26.
While the Steelers and Bills don’t meet this year, Pittsburgh will host the game between them and the Chiefs on Christmas Day.
Football and sports aside as I close off the blog. I am in the Christmas Spirit and Pluto TV has a relaxing Christmas channel that plays instrumental music. The backdrop is a comfortable, cozy fireplace with stockings hung and presents under the tree. I discovered this during the holidays in 2022 and it’s nice to fall asleep to when I’m laying down for work. Also, when you have company over during the holidays or when opening presents on Christmas morning, it makes nice background music while enjoying your coffee or hot chocolate.
Time to plan my top ten of 2024 and my Christmas cartoon and movie schedule.
