Today, begins with me embarking on quite an adventure. Between today and Christmas Day, I’ll be posting blogs just about every day. It’s going to be the most content I’ve ever written over that period (save for a two month stretch in early 2020 when the blog was just beginning). It’s kind of my Countdown to Christmas. Holidays, anniversaries, and milestones will be just a few of the things coming to Stylish in the last two months of 2024.
On Sunday, Thanksgiving came early for my family. What I mean by that is we had turkey breast for dinner. The whole spread turned out to be really good as you can see by the thumbnail at the top. We had stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, yams, and applesauce. We also had biscuits. It all felt like a precursor to what we can expect a month later. Today is October 28, which means that Thanksgiving is approximately one month away. I should have dressed as I had for our Thanksgiving Dinner at home a few years ago, as that was a better holiday coming off of the last two COVID years and is one of my favorite dinners.
My Turkey Sandwich and Thanksgiving tour, or whatever else I want to call it, kicks off on November 1 with a trip to GetGo Cafe and Market and the Pilgrim sub. I’m no stranger to the sandwich and have had it several times over the last few years. Also on the agenda is another trip to Mad Mex for the Gobblerito (my third year in a row for this), as well as Primanti’s and Eat’n Park for their Thanksgiving features. I’m not limiting this mini-tour exclusively for food, as I also want to post a gratitude blog post and visit some craft stores to check out their holiday merch.
Yesterday, my niece and my sister were outside carving pumpkins. They had their own little adventure over the weekend (in a good way). Originally, they were going to go to State College for a Tenacious D concert that unfortunately got cancelled. Instead, they stayed in Altoona and went to the Horseshoe Curve and Portage Railroad as well as the Boyer Candy Company. They can tell this story much better than I can but I’m just giving you the details. My own adventure is coming up next month just before Thanksgiving when I go to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra and spend the weekend in Hershey.
In case you were wondering, the jack o’lanterns turned out good.
