Getting Back into the Word!

As the calendar turned over to July this week, and I’ve been contemplating this for a while now, I finally got back into reading the Bible. With July having 31 days, I took it upon myself to read a chapter in Proverbs. This is a sign that I’m starting to get back into my walk with God. I won’t go into any more detail because the storyline’s played out, but it’s been about three years since I walked away from the church.

Attending an in-person church service still remains to be seen, and that’s mainly because of my work schedule. I might want to take some time to rest before I go to work. It’s hard on Sunday morning because I like to go home and go right to sleep. But there’s always the option to attend online if nothing else.

I am still into Harry Potter and reading the last book, planning to finish at the end of August. I’ll watch Half-Blood Prince this weekend. Deathly Hallows is a two part movie, so I’ll watch one part halfway through the book (likely early to mid August) and the other at the end (likely Labor Day Weekend).

In the meantime, I’m getting back into more inspirational reading and I’ll start tonight. While I’m back into the Word and studying Proverbs, I also picked up a few books written by children of famous author and pastor Tony Evans. His older son is a musician who has collaborated with artists like Kirk Franklin and Tori Kelly. His younger son is a chaplain for the Dallas Cowboys.

One of the books is about prayer and the other is on living a God-centered life, both written by his daughters. The younger daughter has also acted in faith-based movies with Sherwood Pictures, including War Room and Overcomer.

Watching Queer Eye a few years ago opened my eyes and has given me encouragement. Some of the heroes the Fab Five has worked with live a Christ-centered life, and accept their children for who they are. I don’t know where I stand in the LGBTQ community or what I identify as. I’m happy being an ally if that’s what it comes to, loving and supporting my friends and family in that community. I just want to be happy, but also be accepted, and be approved

Finally, as I begin to make my way back to living a faith-based life in Jesus Christ, there’s no one I’d like to thank more than Paula. Even though we don’t always see each other (that’s life), she loves and supports me (and loves my style and fashion sense). Like the greatest hero on Queer Eye, Mama Tammye, Paula too loves the Lord and has also dealt with serious health issues. But her health problems have made her faith in God stronger. Also like Tammye, she loves unconditionally and that’s what I love about my second mother.
