Top Ten of 2023–#10–A Laptop and a Passion Reborn

It’s hard to believe, but here we are on the first day of December. It just seems like yesterday began the first day of 2023 and now the year will soon be drawing to a close. There’s been a lot to talk about this year, good and bad, and I’m here for the highlights and lowlights from the past year.

I just published my 500th blog post yesterday and felt very proud of my achievement. It’s a big deal to me for staying with this when I could have easily walked away from it. I made the events of last weekend the topic of my milestone blog post.

I challenged myself in December to double my content for the month. That gives me an opportunity to make 2023 my best year for this blog. 2020 is not a good example even though I had a lot of content as things peaked early and regressed during the height of COVID.

As was the case the last couple of years, I will be doing a top ten countdown of the things that made my year in 2023. Some good, some bad, some made national headlines.

Without further ado, let’s start this countdown.

The #10 event of 2023 actually took place on the last day of the previous year. My story begins at Laurel Hill State Park during our Gaffron Family reunion in October of 2022. My cousin Katie is an active blogger and she asked how my page was doing. I stalled production because I needed new technology, and didn’t want to rely on my phone. I was in the market for a laptop, and little did I know my cousin and her little family would come to my rescue.

On New Year’s Eve at Aunt Sue’s holiday party, we opened gifts and enjoyed each other’s company. I got a Queer Eye book from Aunt Sue as I was really into the show at the time. I also had a gift from my cousin. Inside a tote bag was a laptop that was repurposed for me so I could have something to work with when it came to my blogs. I would also have an easier time attending online Toastmasters meetings, once I purchased the webcam in the fall. As a thank you, I sent my cousin and Mr. K a Starbucks gift card, and the boys each a Chick-Fil-A gift card. P even Marco Polo’d me a thank you for said gift cards.

Thanks to that Christmas gift, I was able to publish blog post #500 last night.
