In this week’s look back at 2021, we highlight the #8 and #7 event of the year. That would be the crazy Spring I had to endure. It all began at the end of March.
I finally addressed the elephant in the room after so many years and made the decision to visit a dermatologist to have them look at my head. After what seemed like an eternity, I was going to have my cyst drained and my head would finally look normal again. Don’t ask me why I didn’t get it addressed sooner.
Before I did that, I would have to visit the doctor and get a referral. I hadn’t been to the doctor in 14 years (again don’t ask) so it’d been a long time for them too since they last saw me. I had my
blood pressure taken and it was HIGH. Like “I’m about to have a stroke HIGH”. Dr. Gerger made arrangements for me to go to the emergency room at Excela Health in Greensburg that afternoon. What I thought was going to be a few hours in the hospital turned into a four day stay.
That night I posted on Facebook that I was being hospitalized for high blood pressure. I got the biggest outpouring of support from family, friends, my church, and my coworkers. I was in good spirits despite my situation. “Fashionable even when in the hospital” is what Sara told me on Facebook. The nurses crushed on my Coach crossbody purse.
The nurses and doctors took great care of me. I watched a lot of Netflix and spent a lot of time sleeping. I don’t think I ever left my hospital room those four days. I was released the day before Easter and couldn’t have been happier to come home and celebrate the holiday with my family. Easter Sunday was a beautiful day.
I began the long road to recovery by taking my medicine everyday, visiting my heart doctor, and getting my cyst drained. I would have a stress test done in May. My head looks normal and my test came back good. Blood pressure has come down and I’m in good spirits.
The week after I came home, I received an invitation to attend Rob and Sara’s wedding in May 15. I RSVP’d immediately. Paula told me, “You’re family. Of course you’ll be there.”
My family mourned the loss of my uncle that weekend, the same weekend I attended the Spring Conference on Zoom. Everyone came out the night before to visit. I stayed home as I was just removed from my hospital stay.
More on this crazy Spring of 2021 tomorrow.
Bye everyone. ❤️ you.
